2010-2011 BOM
Over the years, CBQ has presented many types of BOM patterns. This year, we will begin by making simple 4-patch blocks, using one cream/beige fabric teamed with 2 different colored batiks. At first, this will be a "mystery", although we’ve all enough imagination to find uses for 4-patches!

After several months, a pattern and other ideas will be given on how to use your accumulated units. Helping you to achieve this happy state will be a new policy. Each "turn-in block" will be 8 units, and you’ll be guaranteed to go home with at least 4 units! So, in a way, this is a swap.

MEETINGS & WORKSHOPS | BLOCK OF THE MONTH

DIRECTIONS

We have finished with 4-patches. In October, we will be turning in units of triangle squares (half square tri-angles). Again, we will be pairing a cream or beige fabric with a pretty batik. The method below will quickly pro-duce 8 identical squares. This will equal one turn-in baggie. You will probably want to make several groups. This will give you more variety, and of course, increase your chance to win the drawing. Please read all instructions before starting.

Layer a ten inch square of batik with a cream ten inch square, right sides together. Draw a line on the 2 diagonals (corner to corner). Now sew ¼ “ on each side of that drawn line. Now, carefully measuring 5”, cut the square in half vertically. Keep the edges aligned, and cut again horizontally. You will now have 4 squares, each one with 2 seams running through them, corner to corner. Now cut between the seam lines, and you will have 8 pieces, that when pressed open, will give you exactly the size, shape, and number of units for this month’s swap and drawing. They will be very close to 4½“ square.
